Fat Bear Week
Fat Bear Week is an international sensation that started as a campagin for Katmai Naitonal Park in 2015. This online contest allows the public to vote on the fattest bear at Brooks Falls in Katmai, a testimony to the strong salmon run of Bristol Bay. Since 2018, I have designed the visual identity and branding for this campaign in partnership with the Katmai Conservancy and Explore.org. This includes social media posts, graphics, video, and merchandise design.
World Migratory Bird Day
In 2021 I was chosen as the World Migratory Bird Day Artist. I was responsible for all graphics, art, and branding for the three international flyways. In 1993, the Smithsonian Migratory Bird Center created International Migratory Bird Day (IMBD). This educational campaign focused on the Western Hemisphere celebrated its 25th year in 2018. Since 2007, IMBD has been coordinated by Environment for the Americas (EFTA), a non-profit organization that strives to connect people to bird conservation.
In 2018, EFTA joined the Convention on Migratory Species (CMS) and the Agreement on the Conservation of African-Eurasian Migratory Waterbirds (AEWA) to create a single, global bird conservation education campaign, World Migratory Bird Day (WMBD).
Arctic Refuge Virtual Bird Fest
Arctic Bird Fest is a digital campaign run by Arctic National Wildlife Refuge in partnership with Audubon Alaska that highlights the amazing birds that migrate and nest there. Since the refuge is so remote, a digital platform is used to connect people with birds from all over the world. In 2020, Bird Fest had a retro “virtual video game” theme to promote the online platform. I designed the visual identity including graphics, animations, banners, posters, video, and stickers.
