For the past few years I have been working as an educational Park Ranger for both Katmai National Park and the Alaska Peninsula and Becharof National Wildlife Refuges. Both of these agencies place a very heavy emphasis on education, something that can be hard to do in bush Alaska. I was put to work designing the Katmai Junior Ranger program a few years back, as well as the refuge brochure and various wayside signs. These are seen and used by millions of visitors across the entire world to help educate and inspire them about wild places. Free downloadable copies of the Katmai Junior Ranger Book can be found on the Katmai National Park website.
